BLOGMAS DAY 6 - cinema films this year

I started this year with a post entitled 'The 100 films you need to see in 2014' or something like that and I thought it could only be right to include something film related in Blogmas.

So these are (I think all of) the films I've seen at the cinema this year:

( these aren't blurbs as you can get them anywhere but rather my opinion which tends to be a little harder to source, also negative things should be taken as constructive criticism and I full understand that someone might hate the films I love and love the films I hate)

The Book Thief (2013) Poster

The book thief
My judgment is clouded, as I've seen this twice and it's just not as good the second time but still a really great film and was obsessed with it when I read and first watched it. It manages to be funny and heart warming and yet taking about a serious topic and I love that.

The Fault in Our Stars (2014) Poster

The fault in our stars
Phenomenal. I love John Green and all of his books and the film did it justice and I think that it's enough said. I went to see this after school and it was only teachers and everyone clapped along and somehow that made it even better ifs that's possible.

The Maze Runner (2014) Poster

The maze runner
I think dystopia is currently being overdone with the hungers, divergent and the maze runner now all in full swing but my friend read and was dying to see it and I would described it as more of an action movie but saying that it was really well balanced because I don't like action films and I really loved this.

Interstellar (2014) Poster
Interstellar
The first sci-fi I've seen in a long time, the first two hours were full of amazing graphics to great plot jammed packed with action but for the hour after that it all lot a bit repetitive and long winded and it probably didn't help that we were willing it to end so we could catch the train home.

What We Did on Our Holiday (2014) Poster
Divergent (2014) Poster

What we did on our holiday
We were exactly a family comedy with a great cast but it was so much more than that. The plot and the emotions were both really intense, both happy and sad but always exciting.

Divergent
I really loved this although it is very similar to hungers and I can't wait to see the rest. There were so many tense moments that you'll be on the end of your seat a lot.

The Imitation Game (2014) Poster

The imitation game
AMAZING! Definitely a more intellectual film and I guess not for everyone but personally I loved it. It was riveting, feature Benedict Cumberbatch ( need I say anymore to persuade you to watch it) and really puts the importance of gay rights into context ( obviously I will say more)

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014) Poster

The hunger games- mocking jay (part 1)
Nothing happened and it didn't need to be split into town but it was still an amazing film with graphics, action, emotion and even SONG ( Jennifer Lawrence we congratulate you).

So these are the films I saw this year, what did you see and what did you love? Are the any I didn't mention that you thing I need to see urgently?

I hope your having a great December,

5 Healthy Snacks for on the go

Sorry it's a day late, I'm really trying to get back into blogging but blogging is just a hobby for me and I don't always have the time and I'm really trying to get blogmas ready :)

On with the post...

Lately I've had an addiction to healthy snacks, I mean they're more filling, tastier and more fun than chocolate. It's just me isn't it, oh well.

So I've been collecting the wrappers for about a month of some of the different healthy snacks I've tried and I want to share my opinions on them with you.

Go ahead! Crispy Slices
Not my favourite but thin wafer biscuits with different fillings that are great for snacking or while your working.

Urban Fruit
(Mango and strawberry)
Their claim: "We don't mess with mangoes. No sugars, no preservatives, nothing. All we do is gently bake the fruit so its easier to munch on the move." I tried describing it as mango jerky lol
I think the reason I love these SO much is that a) i convinced myself to like them when i feel for gimmick even though at first they're just well standard, and b) they're concentrated so the sugar is concentrated so they taste like sweets.

Kellog's Nutri-Grain Breakfast Bakes Raisin
Almost like a cake in terms of texture packed with Wheat, Oats and Raisins. I love these, they're really filling and one or the sweeter options.

Tesco's Sweet n' Crunchy Trail Mix
"A mix of sweetened cranberries, almonds, honey roasted peanuts, milk chocolate coated peanuts, white chocolate coated yoghurt flavour cornflakes and hazelnuts."
My problem with Trail Mix is that it's quite high in calories and so you can't eat much but my oh my is it nice. I love nuts, and dried fruit and they chocolate definitely doesn't go a miss so trail mix is a must have and this is just one of my favourites.

Eat Natural fruit & nut bars
They are cereals bar that taste amazing. Enough said. While most cereal bars are meh, these ones are actually really nice. There are half a dozen or so flavours, all with yoghurt or chocolate or something to bind together the nuts, cereal or fruit. I think what makes these nice is the flabour combinations with sound and taste great!

Yu! fruit chews - A miss
This is a snack that I don't like, it just isn't appealing to me. Its small pieces of concentrated fruit puree. The flavour is actually okay but I don't really like the concept; but do try it yourself, i'd hate to put you off and then you turn out to love it.

My current favourites

Hello lovely people of planet earth, it's been a long time and the favourites have gathered. I don't have much to say so I'll jump straight in.

Book wise, I've just finished reading Two Brothers by Ben Elton which was insanely long but well worth struggling through, it's set in Germany during the Second World War and shows how the war brought everyone together.

Tv wise, I've become obsessed with Glee and I don't even know where to start, it's all just too amazing. It's set in an American high school about a group of misfit who come together through their glee club.

Jewellery wise I'm loving this necklace from h&m and my Pandora bracelets. And beauty wise I've being using Seventeen Miracle Matte Pressed Power, MUA liquid, Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker and Lush Popcorn Lip Crayon. In terms of nail varnish my current favourites are Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat, Maybelline Colour Show Nail Varnish in Latte and Barry M Gelly High Shine in Elderberry. I've also been loving the Body Shop Peach Body Mist which I'll admit to spraying on my wrists when i go to bed just so that I can smell it.

In terms of YouTube my current favourites are the Shaytards and Strawberryelectric48. And you'll also notice that the photo above has a guitar pick hiding in there and that's because I've started learning the chords to pop songs on my guitar and I've really been loving it.

2. Summer nail polish you're loving?

the nail art that I'm going to share with you in an upcoming post

3. Bikini you're loving this summer?

I'm not planning on going away this summer and so I don't have any great bikinis at the moment

4. Favourite summer Frappuccino from Starbucks?

strawberry or caramel are my favourites but personally I prefer the Cafe Nero mango and passion-fruit fruit booster.

5. Favourite fake tan?

I'm against fake tan, and its OK if you wear it, I just don't see the point in it as I'm happy being pale and trying to tan slightly naturally.

6. Favourite summer song?

Wasted by Tiesto, I hate the message but the tune is great

7. Favourite summer accessory?

Me and my friends have been wearing flower crowns as a sort of joke but I think were all starting to like them seriously. Me included.

8. Favourite summer fragrance/perfume?

Circus fantasy by Britney Spears as its so light and lovely

9. Summer book you're loving?

I'm currently reading two brothers by Ben Elton but after that I plan on reading some more John Green and I always love a bit of wattpad for lighter reading.

10. What are you most excited to do this summer?

Trying new recipes and reading good books and watching good TV is how I plan on spending my summer. I hate the fact that I'm wasting one of my childhood long summers but I really don't feel liek doing much this year.

I tag everyone and comment if you do this so that I can see what your looking forward to this summer.

Billy Eliot

So a while ago I went to see Billy Elliot the musical in the London West End and I've been meaning to review it for a couple of months now but I never know how to. It really was that amazing.

Let's start with the story, it's set during the miners strike and reflects on how the miners strike is stopping a young boy from achieving his dreams of dancing because his parents can't afford it and think it will damage the families reputation. It's a moving story and it's one of those where it's not the overall story that matters but instead it is all of the little moments in life.

The acting was amazing, and then you remember that over half the cast are under the age if 15 and that blows your mind away even more. The cast were really mature especially given all the swearing that takes place and yet every single character is so loveable and so complex.

The dancing was phenomenal, if you do go and see it look out for the bit just before the interval but there are professional dancers and people who've had months of extreme training so that they could be in the musical.

The songs were amazing with so much meaning and all of them had good rhythms etc. I especially liked the grandmas song and he could be star as one made me laugh and the other made me cry, you'll have to see it to find out which ;)

And lastly the staging was just so creative with props and walls flying in and out of the walls and the floor and other props and walls.

I know I sound like I'm promoting it but I'm not I just saw it and I need to share it with the world, you know, like that quote about evangelical zeals from TFIOS. So in short, please take a day to see this, appropriate for 12 and up I'd say but there is a lot of swearing. Also it helps it you have some background knowledge of the miners strike.

Thank you for reading, Louise xo

happiness...

Today, I wanted to blog about happiness because it's one of the most important things in the world in my opinion and I felt it was important to remind of you of that; but without further ado, I bring you happiness:
(hopefully)

Why be happy?
Happiness controls you, it controls your productivity, health, relations, education or work and so much more. This makes it important and NECESSARY. The happier you are the better you are, in so many ways.

How to become happy?
Focus on the positive, I know that's easier to say than to do but it can be done, if you spend hours thinking about who hates you and no time on what makes you happier and the memories that you've made then of course you're not going to be smiling.

Secondly, it is important to be productive and make the most of your life, if you spend lots of time doing nothing your going to a) dwell on both the good and bad but b) your also more likely to hate yourself for not having achieved anything. Doing sports, going to the gym, or having a hobby makes you happier in so many way, especially if you can feel like you've achieved something and done something you enjoy for a few hours.

How to stay happy?
In the same ways that you become happy, you stay happy. Happiness can be easy but it's a long term thing, so keep up those hobbies and positive thoughts and you will keep up your happiness too.

Reasons to be happy and a book to read?
A simple way to be happier is to write a list of things that make you happy or to find a published list and highlight the ones that you agree with. For this I recommend '14,000 things to be happy about' (a book) because it's great at reminding you of all the small things in life that we take for grated or have forgotten about and makes you grateful for them again and happy that you happy remembered them.

I really need to know if like these deeper posts or not so please comment if you want me to do more or less of them.

Thank you for reading, Louise x

Sorry for the poor quality photos I just did not have the time

Why Labels Suck

A youtuber you've probably all heard of known as SprinkleofGlitter recently did a video on YouTube Culture and it made me think about labels for 2 reasons.

Reason Number one:
We are both called Louise and yet we are so different and I only remember that we share our name when I think about it. This made me think about how labels in general bring on stereotypes that are usually so false its unbelievable.

Reason Number one:
People idolise Louise because of her labels e.g. Youtuber, Famous etc. but how much do they labels tell us about her, don't get me wrong I love Louise but I make a point of not idolising anyone.

My one execption to that rule is that i idolise my future self. Crazy I know, but I like having life plans and knowing who I aspire to be so obviously I idolise that made up person and after not having plans or dreams for the last few years, I felt great in the last few weeks now that I have plans again.

We are ourselves and we change, every day we become someone new, someone based on yesterday's us but not yesterday's us. Change isn't a bad thing, it's great, it allows us to grow and be who we want to be and if people continue to label us then we have no hope.

So think before you label people, because full stereotypes do not exist. While a group of people may share a characteristic, it is only one characteristic.
And think before you assume things, if you've changed this year, why hasn't everyone else.

Thank you for reading, sorry it's deep, I'm scrapping the schedule and uploading as much as possible whenever I want so follow me on bloglovin or check my blog at least once a week for new content.

podcasts

Sorry for not posting in other a month, life got in the way but I'm back, I'm hoping to do one post a week and prepare for blogmas.

I really like to listen to podcasts when I'm walking, having quiet time, in the gym or as background to fall asleep to.

I do want to post a full list of the ones I listen to but I am currently trialling loads and don't want to give you bad recommendations so my top 5 are: ( drum roll please)

When the kids go to sleep - the Shaytards
We all know and love the shaytards who daily vlog their family life and the podcast by the mum and dad of the family is as equally entertaining and inspiring.

friday night comedy - bbc radio 4
Something me and my stepdad have always shared a love of, topical comedy shows about news etc. (don't be put off by the fact that's it's radio 4, instead think mock the week etc.)

answer me this - helen and olly
One of the very first podcasts I feel in love with, send in your questions and listen to them answered, hilarious  and stuffed with funny jingles.

the ellen show - telepictures productions (video)
I love the Ellen show and this keeps my Ellen levels up when it's hard to watch her in the uk. Under five minute snippets from her amazing show.

Psychobabble - tyler oakley
Tyler and Korey host a podcast that is all knew and exciting, it is simply 40 minutes or them gossiping and reminiscing every week.

Sorry about the poor picture quality, the images may or may not be very zoomed in.

I look forward to blogging again,

Real technique Brushes

I started this post LONG ago, around Christmas intact but I could never be bothered to finish it so apologies but its here finally:

For the last year or so I have owned very few and cheap makeup brushes but as I got into makeup more, I realised I would need some better ones. Real Technique Brushes seemed to be the obvious choice and after researching them for a LONG time I recently caved and bought them. I'm glad I did though because they are honestly so good.

So I bought the core collection and the starter set; however I'm planning on buying the the powder brush, blush brush and the lash-brow groomer. Are there any others that you would recommend?

The Core Collection

Pointed foundation brush - I use this to apply my foundation to my skin and spread it out evenly, I love it as it allows me to have natural looking high coverage however I do have to use the buffing brush to blend it into my skin.

Buffing brush - excellent for buffing your foundation into your skin or apply powder foundation, I also use it for setting powder as I do not yet have a powder brush.

Contour brush - this brush is great for contouring and setting powder under the eyes etc.

Detailer Brush - I use this to apply concealer over any spots or blemishes and it does this really well. I can get great coverage that doesn't look at all cakey.

Starter Set

The starter set contains five eye brushes that between them can be used for shadow, liner and to fill in eyebrows.

Base Shadow brush - i use this to apply or blend out eye shadow and its amazing for that.

Deluxe Crease brushmy number one brush for blending eye shadow or as the name suggests, applying a darker colour in the crease.

Brow Brush - personally I don't use this as I use the Maybelline brow drama (a brow mascara) but in the one or two times that I have used it, it works like any other angled brush and it works well.

Fine Liner Brush - again, I don't use this as i favour liquid/felt tip liners but its for applying eye liner and I've heard some great things about it.

Accent Brush - a must have for highlighting the inner corner of your eye

Thank you for reading, please comment, like and follow, I hope to upload more in the next few weeks now that Blogger.com is working on my laptop again and so hopefully I will see you soon. Louise x

(I apologise for the bad photos, I do not have the time to redo them)
